Site Assessment
We complete all stages of your site assessment. This is an essential step to ensure that your site is suitable for growing trees and eligible for grant funding.
All due diligence checks and most site surveys are conducted by our inhouse forester and ecologist, making them cost-effective for the client and giving us a thorough knowledge and understanding of the site. The right tree species can be selected, whilst identifying opportunities to protect and enhance valuable habitats and protected species.
Site visit
An initial site walkover enables us to investigate potential for tree planting and eligibility for grant funding. We do not charge for this visit.
Due diligence
We conduct a full desk-based due diligence check and site meeting with Scottish Forestry to confirm likely suitability for grant funding. Stakeholder engagement can identify landscape designations, valuable habitats and protected species prior to application.
Site surveys
Surveys inform suitable planting locations, tree species choice and future woodland management system, e.g. Continuous Cover Forestry (CCF). We always complete a full soil survey including deep peat (>50cm is never planted) and, if necessary, survey for breeding birds, protected mammals, Phase 1/NVC vegetation and archaeology.
